Make Do and Mend Challenge Check In:

Make Do and Mend Challenge: Well Ho ho ho, I made do with Christmas lights- I bought 3 strings of LED lights last year, they only use 4 watts per string, I never got to put them up due to construction of the addition, Anyway- found out that I only need 1 string. SO maybe a giveaway in the future??? Or I might free-cycle them- and I fixed my mom’s windchime- The strings holding the chimes on disentegrated. Amazing what you can fix with a little dental floss!
I bought a can of Silver Chrome spray paint to paint some Command hooks silver rather than pay $8 each for Metal command hooks (I already had the plastic ones)
How did y'all do this week? I suspect a lot of cookware repairs?

Um, nothin' here. My sweetie's still working on my retractable clothesline repair. He's hit a snag.

Does getting rid of stuff count as "making do" with less? More stuff's going in the yard sale box daily.

We glued the rungs on some chairs so our Thanksgiving guests would not have to sit on the floor. The chairs were found in the garbage. Woo Hoo!

Chile- a snag on your clotheline? get out the scissors!

I don't know if getting rid of stuff would count or not- I would think if it counts for you then it should count!

Fleecnik- Way to go on the dumpster dive find! That is too cool!

Darned more socks. Almost done with the HUGE supply of holey socks!
Sewed a hem on some pants.
Sewed my husband's gloves back together when the seam split!
(I don't even sew that well... and everything I did was sewing this week!)

Made Do:
Cleaned up some salsa jars for new glassware instead of buying new or used.

Worked on a quilted cover for an ancient wool blanket. I hope to finish it this week.

Haven't checked in for a couple of weeks. I FINALLY hemmed all of hubby's work pants. Now I don't have to wash them everyday! Sewed some buttons back on. Made reusable cloth pads for my daughter. She is making do with her brother's school binder from last year after hers disintegrated last week. We pulled all the zippers and other usable pieces off for future projects before depositing it in the bin. Lastly, I used two random bolts in the garage to attach the snowblower unit to the lawn tractor rather than ordering the proper missing parts.

Oh! Forgot, we are wearing lots of extra layers to make do with less heat this year. Have the thermostat set at 55. Does that count?
