One Small Change: No Plastic poop bags? Awww shi......

Normally I don't forget a biodegradable poop bag when I take Romeo out for his walk. But when I do, it takes some panicking and general WTF thinking as to what to use to scoop the poop! Recently,  I took dog out for a walk and stopped and had a coffee and a pastry. They put the cookie in a small paper bag, like the one pictured, Which I then subconsciously put the bag in my pocket. Good thing, because later, Romeo had to take a dump. And I opened the container I keep his poop bags in and it was empty. I did not panic. I simply remembered the cookie bag in my pocket and it worked wonderfully. Takes a bit of figuring out to make a mess free scoop, but it is do-able! I have since then figured out how to use lunch size paper bags  for the same purpose. Maybe I will go and buy some of the "cookie/pastry bags" at Costco or Cash 'N Carry and forget about the biodegradable plastic bags, since the paper will definitely decompose!

You know people ask me what I do at work. I explain that I am a maintenance plumber. Yup= shit is my life.

This pic is just a web fantasy of the drain line I spent the last 2 working days unplugging. Imagine a 1o foot run of impacted Grease and rice, and why I think that Vegetarianism might not be so bad. 2 days of taking the drain line down in sections, and literally scooping out by hand. Pretty much my normal night. And one reason I count down to retirement.

Continuing the discussion on compostable starter pots for your veggies, after reading the comments, Abbie made a comment on poo pots, an episode on Dirty Jobs. I googled "poo pots", I eventually found the video on you tube from the dirty jobs series(discovery networks asks that their videos not be embedded so the link is the best I can do). I also found a link to where poo pots or "cow pots" are sold. What we have here is another example of eco-capitalism. Just like Terra Cycle worm poop products, this here farm takes cow manure, and has figured out how to make a money making product from this. The important thing is also, as "E" pointed out, that peat is mined and processed and probably wont be around for ever. I know there is a big concern over that in England. So that makes poo pots even more important because they should be able to be made as long as there are farm animals making manure. I also found this link, for a tool to make your own starter pots, but I personally think using a small bottle or such will work just as well... just follow the instruction on the link at the end of yesterday's post. So sorry about another poopy post, I just think that anybody who figures out another use for shit and makes money at it, should be rewarded! As for me, I think I will make starter pots out of newspaper or toilet rolls next winter, but I will probably order a dozen poo pots to see how much better they are!
