Introducing Sprout Robot

Of course one of the advantages to reading blogs like Cheap Vegetable Gardener is I get all the cool garden tech news. And he found out about Sprout Robot, a neat little computer site that works like an almanac to tell the best time to start plants in your zip code. Well, my zip code is not listed but the neighboring one is. Anyway a cool little app for your garden! And it doesn't cost to use!

TED - Roger Doiron - A Subversive Plot

I love TED talks... I learn so much.

Like Roger Doiron, founding Director of Kitchen Gardeners International. He, like other TED speakers teaches with intelligence, and does so in minutes. So take a few minutes and watch his talk about his "Subversive Plot" to take over the world, one garden at a time :

Roger Doiron is founding director of Kitchen Gardeners International, a network of people taking a hands-on approach to re-localizing the global food supply. Doiron is an advocate for new policies, technologies, investments, and fresh thinking about the role of gardens. His successful petition to replant a kitchen garden at the White House attracted broad international recognition.

Move over CVG, I am the new Garden Geek

I have gone form Garden Nerd to Garden Geek- Overnight.
I have been having fun with growVeg.com. It is a cool way to plan your garden using your computer. I have used garden software before but this is cool- Here you see my front yard plan!

I won my 1 year subscription on Cheap Vegetable Gardener, but right now GrowVeg.com is offering everyone a 30 day trial. This is like sims for gardeners. I know Melinda wrote about using it. I really feel it will be worth the $25 for a years subscription. Very easy to use, just drop and drag the plant you want into your plan! Along with plans, You have the ability to see your plant list and establish frost dates.

It even tells you best times to plant veggies. I need that! Very cool. Something about using technology to help you garden. Thanks Garden GeekCheap Veggie Gardener.

Now lets wait and see if I computerise grow lights and have temp sensors send information back to my computer.
But not tonight.
Tonight the plan is to take over the world! Thanks CVG!

Free tomato seeds from Campbells and CVG's giveaway

Grow your own tomato soup!
Tired of entering blog giveaways only to not win?
Well- Here is your chance to come out a winner!
As reported by Cheap Vegetable gardener and Red- Icculus, Campbell's soup is indeed giving away free tomato seeds. To Consumers and to the FFA- just go to Help Grow Your Soup.com -A great opportunity to join Melinda's Seed to Seed Growing Challenge with free seeds!
And a few hints from the Campbell tomato seeds giveaway page:"An empty Campbell's soup can is just the right size for growing seedlings. Keep the iconic label on for a decorative touch!" What a cool re-use idea!
Another tip:"Don't touch your tomato plants until you've washed your hands. Viruses can easily spread from your hands to your plants." I know this is especially true if you are a smoker. Tobacco plant viruses are extremely toxic to tomato and pepper plants and are easily spread from the hands of cigarette smokers.
Even if you elect not to get free tomato seeds, go to the page to click and help them meet their goal of giving away 22.5 million tomato seeds to community groups and the Future Farmers of America.
Speaking of Cheap Vegetable Gardener and free things- tomorrow is the deadline for his first ever giveaway- a one year subscription to GrowVeg.com so hurry up get over the garden geek's page and sign up!
