This Christmas sucked. My little pug, Spike, last night was outside and collapsed on the snow. He became unresponsive, and couldn't stand and wouldn't eat the dog treats Santa Claws brought for him. This morning I took him to the Vet, and we agreed he was just old. He had little blood pressure, and his lungs sounded just awful. Add to that that Spike was blind and deaf. Well you get the picture. We had to put him down, and let me tell you, it sucks. This year I had to put down a cat, my yorkie and now my little buddy. I still have Sammy cat. And now I read Ms. Eartha Kitt passed away- my singing partner! (I will post later on Ms. Kitt). Anyway, Rest in Peace little Spike.

Oh, Rob! I'm so sorry to read this. Man, it's been a tough year on you and your animal friends. Please accept my condolences.
I'm so sorry you lost your little buddy. He was adorable! We had to make that same hard decision last year; although we know in our heads that it is the right thing, our hearts still hurt. BUT, I would rather risk the hurt and have the animals in my life, than to miss out on all the great times we have had with them. Hope next year will be better. Julie
I'm so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen on Christmas. We've been through much the same thing with dogs in the past. Hope the next year is better.
So sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds like your animals were given good lives. Blessings.
Little Bug and I are sending happy thoughts your way.
I'm so sorry to hear about your little buddy. I hope the new year brings happier times for you.
I'm so sorry to hear about Spike! My brother's family had a sweet little pug, Sadie, who succumbed to the heat last summer. They are just the dearest little creatures.

Ohh, Rob. That's terrible! You have had a terrible run on the pets, I'm so sorry!
I'll have to read back and catch up on the snow but I couldn't believe how sad that you lost another doggie. Damn!
Rob, I am so sorry. That does suck. You've had a terrible trail of events this year. Here's to a much better, happier, more fulfilling new year. Spike looks like a great companion, and I am so sorry. Take care of yourself.
Having contributed to your happiness (and having had you to contribute to his), Spike did not live in vain.

Thank you, for the kind words everyone. It Has been a tough year on the pet front. I know I will get a new pup, hopefully one a bit younger and a bit healthier. I know it will be a rescue from either the shelter or the humane society. Give me a couple of weeks.
How very sad. I am so sorry.
We lost a bunny and a guinea pig in the last month, too. It has been very hard on the youngest.
I'm sorry you lost another pet, Rob. It's very sad. You were a good friend to Spike, you gave him a good life.
