The First 4R- SUPER HERO AWARD

The 4R's Super Hero Award.
This award is for folks who find ways of turning everyday useless junk and turn it into Useful, tasteful, aesthetic pleasing junk. The first award goes to Cheap Vegetable Gardener, for his version of the topsyturvey tomato planter. His version uses a 2 litre pop bottle, keeps it out of the waste stream. The academy would like to thank The Garden Geek for taking upcycling to a new level. The recipient may download this nifty pic to put on their site. This is not a meme or anything like it. Just a little recognition for helping out Mother Earth. Know some other deserving 4R'er? Send me a note at robj98168@yahoo.com to nominate someone or yourself and send me a link to their site to see what they have done.

One of my students is making one of those tomato planters out of a 5-gallon pail. He's doing an experiment to see if it grows any better than a normal tomato plant. He's also growing basil out the top of the pail (with a hole in the bottom for the tomatoes). If it works, I'm going to make him make one for me!!!

Fishie- Nawww!But thanks

Abbie- I have done that. Didn't work out too well- maybe I should have watered more:o I have seen folks make the most fantastic hangin gardens using 5 gallon pails

Thank you Rob.

I have good things about the 5 gallon buckets but if I did that I wouldn't have anything to carry my water around in :)
