HOWL-LOWEEN IS NEAR!!!

That time of year to be creative and drive your dog nuts! HOWL-OWEEN! In a couple of days I will debut Romeo and Buddy's look for 2014, But until then, here are some of my favorite costumes for 2014 (Courtesy of Instructables.com) to tide you over!

Burien Boos!

Well, Romeo and Buddy had a great day to party down in Burien, on Sat. October 26th. THe day started off with a B-town Dog "Park-N-Bark" at the Town Square park,

where they met up with their Canine friends and owners for a walk along 152nd, the main street in Burien, and later they got to lead the Dog Costume Parade the Discover Burien puts on each year in their "Boo In Burien" celebration. The weather held out, and they boys had a great time watching the annual Weiner Dog races and eating the dog treats given out by local businesses.

ROCKET DOGS!

Everyone knows that this country is guarded by an elite force of dogs. Dogs who wear rocket jet packs and fly. If you didn't know that well now you do!
I was first inspired by Natalie at Doodle craft to make Romeo and Buddy's "Rocket Dogs" halloween costumes, after seeing what she came up with for her young son to wear and play with. Thought it could be made into a costume for my dogs!
First I spray painted two water bottles:

And then added felt Flames:

Then I took two of the dogs old coats and made a t-shirt transfers for them

Then I simply attaced the water bottles with some Tywraps and ty-wrap self adhesive holders that where attached to the Rockets so I could re-use the dog's coats.
The end result:

2 HOWLOWEEN COSTUME FOR MY PUPS! A few decals from nasa and such on the jet pack rockets and it will be finished!

And this idea for an E.T. costume couldn't be easier... SImply wrap a blanket around your alien dog and put him in a bike basket

IDEAS FOR DOG "HOWL"-OWEEN COSTUMES

That time of year when I try to come up with ideas for costumes for the boys- found some great inspiration too.
Ghost Dog

This would work if I could keep the sheet on the dogs. Pretty simple though. three holes, two for they eyes, on for the snout.

HEADLESS HORSEMAN:

Pretty simple- all you need is a harness, some felt and a Ken or barbie doll minus the head. Also you could do a cowboy or just about anything that rides a horse!

GANGSTA THUG DOG

Another easy costume- if you have a hoodie that fits your dog. A little swag around the neck fo' shizzle

FRUIT OF THE LOOM DOG:

Here's a costume for wine-y dogs. Turn them into the pre-pressed product with either green or purple balloons taped together and pinned by their stems to a cloth coat. Cut large grape leaves out of green felt and attach them to the dog collar.

Romeo was a cat one year- Buddy has never gone howl-oweening before. I think I have it narrowed down. But I think these are great costumes one and all!

Happy Halloween!

I didn't make costumes for the pups this year- I had to work during the Boo in Burien, and have to work on Halloween (Yes I am working on the holiday!). Anyway, in lieu of costumes i found these hand made bandanas (or is that "Boo-Danas?) that fit over their collars on Cutie Patootie  Pets on ETSY. I think these will suffice for this year, anyway.

Marina Di Chioggia

More on my pumpkin... It is called a " Marina Di Chioggia" and according to everything I read on it, it is pefect for Gnocchi and Ravioli, as well as pies. And I am told you can bake it like any other squash, with a little butter and brown sugar. WHich tells me I can process it and make pie or soup out of it!
It's alien look made it perfect for my "puking pumpkin" and it tied for a win in our pumpkin carving contest at work!

Too Much Candy

I entered a pumpkin carving contest at work. This is my entry...  I call it "Too Much Candy" ( I was eating Sweet Tarts while carving). And yes that green gourd is a real pumpkin!

Witches’ Broomsticks

Another great find from pininterest that I couldn't wait to try...So easy I don’t know why I am writing instructions… Simply take some Mini-Reese’s, stick some pretzels sticks in them. Don’t get no simpler! 

Easy Take Out Luminaria

This is is so simple. Just get some colored Chinese Take Out cartons from
 your art supply store,
Dissasemble them.
Draw a design on them
Cut out design using an Exato knife or other sharp knife.
Re-assemble them.

Stick an LED Candle in them and hang them up, or border your walkway or whatever

Spooky Eyes

I found this on pininterest and had to try myself. So easy to do,,, just cut eyeholes in a toilet paper tube. I didn’t have any glow sticks, so I put in a LED candle. I did find I had to cover the ends with scrap paper though.

Ruh Roh- Rick or Reat... Boo in Burien

Saturday marked the annual Boo In Burien, where little Goblins and Their dogs get dressed up in their finest Trick or treat fare and get treated to loads of fun and candy or dog treats by the local businesses in Burien.

Complete the day with a hayride.

There where a lot of things to do including a haunted Chiropractors Office, Kid's Costume Parade, Dog costume Parade, Weiner Dog Races and Candy, Candy, Candy!

Romeo's Halloween Costume

" I will kill you in your sleep"

So I know everyone has been sitting on pins and needles to find out what Romeo will be this year for Halloween. And since his best friend Sammy Cat is no more, Romeo and I discussed it and decided he will be Sammy Cat in honor of his feline friend. Was simple to make, I made a custom dog T-shirt at Cafe Press, got together some cat ears that I had to customize by drilling a small hole in the bottom of the head band base, then installed a rubber band to tighten it when Romeo is in cat mode! The tail is from one of the hanging upside down planters I made last summer. Now he is ready for Halloween!
