What I did on my weekend. Well I had to work, but I did have some time to attend the annual A.A.R.F (Animal Assistance and Rescue Foundation), where I adopted Buddy, Whine and Cheese Auction. While auctioning, I bid on some great items, and won two... A gift basket of dog goodies, which includes a grooming and a pet sitting certificates!

YUMMY!!!

And a guilt free  Raw Chocolate Cheesecake, which as you can see is slowly getting eaten, piece by delicious piece, from Deceptive Delights, a bakery that specializes in no guilt desserts! And too SWAG Bags full of goodies and food for Romeo and Buddy! All in all a good night and a great organization for dogs!

Soda Bottle Bird Feeder

There are some really cool DIY Bird feeders out there in the inter webs. Here is one I found and made my own. The Clear instructions are here

My Version:

I took an ordinary soda bottle and drilled two small holes in the cap. Run a small wire or some jute string through these holes and tie off Then I cut two larger holes (about 1” in diameter) straight across from each other, near the bottom. Then I made two small holes directly beneath them (no more than an eighth of an inch). On the smaller holes on the bottle, shove a stick through them (I used a chopstick because I always have old chopsticks hanging around, in the Birdfeeders.org plans they use wooden spoons) to give the birds something to perch on.. Fill the bottle with bird seed and let hang wherever.

You can use a scissor to cut the holes on the bottle… or a trick to do is purchase a cheap soldering iron and melt the holes. CAUTION: if you use a soldering iron, make sure you have good ventilation.

Well, Lisa posted sad news- Little Blitzy has lymphoma, a form of cancer. And she has started a fund to help pay for Blitzy's treatment. And I encourage all of you to donate. Poor little dog has had a hard life before Lisa and her husband rescued him- he was beaten and kicked, resulting in him losing an eye (that's why he always looks like he is winking at you), and a tooth- after all the horror of his past life, he found a home full of love with Lisa, And he learned some tricks, and works hard at shows and pet charities as an example of what a rescue can do! And you know, I cant even imagine what I would do if my dog Romeo, was going through the same thing. So even if all you can give is $5 or $10 I encourage you to do so. And let's help this little fellow beat this cancer!

Happy 7Th Birthday Romeo!

A quick post to wish my pup, Romeo a happy 7th birthday tomorrow. For his birthday, he is getting a doggy door, a Leash cabinet and a day at the Dog Park! Shhhhh! It's a surprise!

Romeo is joining with some other Canine ghouls and goblins Saturday for the Boo! in Burien Halloween pet costume parade/contest. He would join the Wiener dog races but they already said no-He is not a Wiener dog. Of course to which I answer He is kind of a wiener. Ever wonder why dogs hate Halloween? OK Go Video raises Money for ASPCA

This just brings a smile to my day.
Thanks to Ikeahacker I had an afternoon with 4 guys with a lot of Fniss. Seriously, if Ikea could sing, it would probably sound like OK Go. But it's not just the tune, the music video is charming (you can't go wrong with cute dogs) and the song is White Knuckles. My favorite part is near the begining the two dogs on the tables that appear to be closely watching something overhead... just too funny. Proceeds from the video will go towards the ASPCA and doggie rescue. You can read more about OK Go's canine cause here.
