The Award Winning "Rob's World Blog"

I just received an award!!! THE VERSATILE BLOGGER AWARD! LOL I had to look at twice- the first time I thought it said Versatile Bugger
In any case, the Versatile Blogger Award was passed on to me from Chile Chews. Y’all know I just love Chile’s Matter of Fact blogging style. She don’t take crap from no one! Unless you are a farmer giving away manure!
As part of the award process, I am to share seven things with my readers that you may not know. And like Chile, I've been blabbing online for years, now that's hard to come up with!

I AM CRAZY about mysteries. Not just detective stories. My favorites have to have an animal involved. I actually get cranky when I think my favorite author of all time, Ms. Rita Mae Brown and her co-author and pet cat, Sneaky Pie, don’t come out with a new Mrs. Murphy series installment when I think they should.

I AM ADDICTED TO CSI and NCIS- I can and do watch episodes of those crime shows over and over again.

I AM ALSO ADDICTED TO Infomercials. There I said it. You want my attention do it in an infomercial. Works for Ron Popeil, Billy Mays and Jack LaLaine! But your infomercial actually has to be a product that I can see the good in purchasing! No ShamWow’s at this house! Honestly, I have nothing against Sham Wow's- I think that anything that will keep you from using a forest worths of paper towels is good. But Vince, really? He reminds of those A-Holes from High School

I OCCASIONALLY RUB SHOULDERS WITH THE RICH AND FAMOUS- Have I ever mentioned I have met Wayne Newton? For my Birthday a few years back we went to Las Vegas. And one of the highlights was my Birthday Dinner was at one of the local casinos there in Vegas with a show starring Mr. Vegas himself! And after the show we had a meet and greet with him! To prove it here is a picture of me and Wayne.

ME and my friend Wayne…That’s Mr. Newton to use guyz.

I HAVE WORKED AT THE SAME PLACE FOR HALF MY LIFE- That was a hard to swallow when I realized it.

I HAVE THOUGHTS about writing a book about my DIY Adventures, but that’s probably something I won’t do.

NOW: I need to pass this on to five other bloggers:

1 Fleecenik Farm- talented knitter, Mother of two, wife of one, works real hard on her family's homestead in Maine

2- Cheap Vegetable Gardener- Inventor, fellow NW Gardener who likes to keep me busy with projects and Ideas in the garden

3- 4 Bushel Farm- very talented seamstress, she always fascinates with idea and projects in turning 2Nd hand clothing into new fashion!

4- Green Roof Growers - amazing garden and chicken projects from their roof top garden in Chicago

5- All of you reading this- why not?

An Award? For little old me???

Simply Green hath bestowed upon Rob's World this lovely blog award. And now I am suppose to tell y'all 7 fun or fascinating facts about myself.

1- I don't like snakes. They don't have legs and move pretty fast. Don't trust them. I suppose in a comic strip life I was B.C.'s Fat Broad... speak loudly and carry a big club to flatten snakes with. But, I do leave them alone. As long as they are out there eating vermin, I can exist in harmony with them.
2- I don't know why, but all of a sudden in my life I get the strangest bouts of stage fright. Never had it before, in fact I was always kind of a ham. But now when asked to speak in public I turn into a shrinking violet.
3- I get envious of those who can weld. I would love to be able to weld metal. Good thing I don't my junky yard would be covered even more than it is.
4- I have been the person for 11 dogs in my life, and 3 cats- The problem being that since usually my animals are older rescues, I don't have them very long, and it can be kind of heart breaking. But I wouldn't trade a minute of love recieved.
5- I am proud to be a Left Wing Liberal Commie Pinko Fag as Archie Bunker used to call my Type.
6- I learned to cook at 4 years old, starting with boiling water. Only 1 oven fire in 46 years! Not that I am a gourmand or anything like that- I just like good food.
7- I have a large collection of kitchen and cooking gadgets and I use all of them. I figure that most help me save energy, all make my life easier, But seriously I need a room just for them! And my collection includes hardware like drill motors and saws! LOL!

Now as for picking 7 other blogs to present this award to--- I cannot do it-1- I think that any blogger out there should be able to give this award to themselves, and 2- Simply Green pretty much gave it out to my would be choices any way ( or most of them) So I would like to see some people take this and name 7 fascinating things about themselves.

For Me??? You shouldn't have...(But Glad you did)

Condo Blues awarded me a Kreativ Blogger award as part of her Blog-iversary celebration.
An award??? For Me????
You Like me Snfff, You really like me!I want to thank the academy, my mom and dad, and all the little people that help get me here. And of course Romeo. (Sorry about the Sally Field channeling)

Here are the rules:
* Thank the person who gave you the award
* Place the logo on your blog
* Link to the person who nominated you
* Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting
* Nominate 7 bloggers for this award and post links to their blogs
* Send a message to let them know they've been nominated

Thanks to Condo Blues for naming me a Kreativ Blogger. At least it wasn't a Kreativ Bugger. Although I have been called worse.

7 Things about me people might find interesting
1- I have adopted over 8 dogs and cats over the past 25 or so years. The good thing is I feel I have taken them out of bad situations, the downside, is they are often older animals and not with me for as long as I would choose
2- I have a thing for older cars and scooters. I own a 1979 MGB roadster, and a 1966 Plymouth Valiant Sedan as well as a 1967 Vespa that I am seriously condsidering converting to electric
3- I started cooking on my own at the ripe age of 4. I always knew what hot was (see below) or at least since 2!
4- I have scars! I have a big on on my fore head(The result of an auto accident when I wads 4 or 5 in my dads 49 Plymouth Coupe) and good size one on my bottom lip (The result of climbing on a hot open oven door when I was around 2) Both have faded- but I can still feel the lip scar when I run my tounge over my bottom lip!
5- I also have a tattoo! I have the mariners logo tatooed on my left bicep! I may get another tattoo on my butt!
6- I first got politically active at a young age and volunteered on Paul Simon's presidential run in 88. Of course he faded way early which is what happens to most candidates I support. I was for Hilary in 2008 as well.
7 I once dressed in drag for a costume party. It never became a habit. I make one ugly woman. I scared small children. And dogs. And a female friend of mine was quite insulted- we where both wearing the same shoes! Anyway all went well until Zorro popped my boobs.

And 7 Bloggers to nominate for this award:
1. Tiny Old House- cause you gotta love anyone who buys old doors and fixes them up for their abode
2. One Green Generation- For posting "For Ladies Only" in the title of her post about greening up menstruation
3. Fleecenik Farms- For kreativ knitting
4. Cold Antler Farm- for keeping us on pins and needles over her farm situation
5. The Farmer's Daughter for making great pies!!
6. Out of Office- not sure if they will accept the award or not, but, kreativity, they got it.
7. Ikea Hacker- a place where creative Ikea hackers meet. Love the originality

An AWARD!!!

I got this lemonade from lemmons award from Chile. This award recognizes a person's ability to be positive and "make lemonade from lemons."

In Fact, Ms. Chile said:

"I am going to pass this award on to Rob. He went through an extended
period of not working recently due to a strike. Rather than sit around and mope, he jumped into a bunch of projects, challenges, and posted many helpful ideas and instructions on his blog during that time. He's also got a very useful
do-it-yourself blog with lots of interesting links."

Oooooh Chile,- if you only knew how much I can/do bitch and moan about little things.

The fact of the matter is that I can be very accepting, partly in how I was raised and partly due to life lessons. I have been sober and clean for since May 2, 1992- one of the first lessons I learned going into that "certain 12 step program" was KISS- Keep it simple, shithead and Don't ever take yourself too seriuosly. And I sure try not to. And sometimes I am successful at it!

But- that being said, I do handle things like strikes and scabs better than most. Because I realize that I am powerless to change those things and the things people do, so I may as well accept them.

Anyway thank you for the nice award, I really appreciate it. And I am not sure whom I will pass it on to.
