Rocking Knit

This would be right up my alley. I could hire lots of seniors to produce stocking hats and all they have to do is sit and read or watch TV.  SOMEONE FROM ENGINEERING GET IN HERE - STAT!
A spool of yarn feeds a geared mechanism on top that slowly knits a wool tube descending towards whoever's keeping it powered. When it's large enough for your noggin', you just need to tie off the top. It's another one of those art for art's sake projects that will at least earn a design student their degree. But as functional furniture goes, this one's hard to beat. As seen on GIZMODO

One of the best Re-Uses I have seen in a long time

One of the best Re-Uses I have seen in a long time and sorry to say it isn't one of mine!

A round of applause and a tip O' the hat goes to Rodrigo Piwonka, the artist who came up with this. A plastic CD Spindle case that gets a second and (hopefully) long reuse as a bagel sandwich holder. Very cool. Very Hip. Very Smart.

URINE: Not just for gardens anymore!

Someone call Crunchy chicken. Seems there is a new use for pee/urine:
From Inhabitat.com:
Assistant architecture professor Ginger Krieg Dosier recently unveiled a new breed of biologically “grown” bricks that are durable, sustainably manufactured, and easily produced from readily available materials. Called “Better Bricks,” the building material can be “grown” from sand, common bacteria, calcium chloride, and urea (yes, the stuff in your pee) instead of being baked, which consumes a ton of energy.
